The OA will run the first of two Employment Symposia this year, the first of which will be held at the Network Rail Training Centre, York.
The Employment Symposium will bring together key employers - both regional and national, industry experts and OA network contacts and supporters to provide a day of industry expertise and insight for those in transition and those looking to take the next steps in their second career.
As trusted experts in the transition space for serving and former officers, the OA’s Symposia aim to offer attendees a mix of plenary sessions offering transition and general career advice, plus a wide range of break-out sessions.
The plenary sessions will include an exploration of tools such as LinkedIn; the art of conversation as part of networking; and the chance to ask advice from a panel of HR and hiring managers.
The break-out sessions will allow you to examine some common career paths such as project management, operations management or risk management, and also explore those you might not have considered such as non-clinical roles within the NHS or how to begin a career in the huge growth sector of IT as a non-technical manager. Speakers already confirmed are from BIFM, Deloitte, FDM, KPMG, ISS Labour, Leeds Beckett University, Network Rail, the NHS, Royal Mail and Turner & Townsend with more to be added.
The OA currently runs two Employment Symposia every year, each at different locations, in order to give Service leavers an opportunity to attend at least one as part of their transition journey.
