The Officers’ Association (OA) is proud to sponsor the OA Inter-Services Triathlon for a second, consecutive year.
Organised this year by the RAF Triathlon Association, the Army, Navy and RAF will compete at the annual event in the end of July. There are individual and team categories, including Male, Female and Veteran. In addition to the Armed Forces, the Emergency Services and the OA will each enter guest teams to compete.
Competitors will swim through 1.5 km of open water, cycle 41 km of tricky terrain and finish the course with a 10 km run. Last year the RAF dominated the competition, winning the ladies’ and men’s team prizes. Luke Pollard aged 24 and from the RAF, won the male race for the second year in a row, finishing in two hours and two minutes.
Wing Commander Nick Huntley said: “I am pleased that the OA is once again supporting the Inter-Services Triathlon. This event brings together many of the best athletes across the Armed Forces and, given the triathlon is one of the hardest endurance sports involving three different disciplines, I am always astounded by the competitors’ athletic abilities.”
Lee Holloway, OA’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted to sponsor this great Inter-Services sporting championship for a second year. We want to celebrate the high levels of physical fitness, mental determination and self-discipline that a triathlon requires. These are qualities that will support Service leavers when they make a successful transition into civilian life.”
