The Officers’ Association (OA) is sponsoring the annual BSI Resettlement Awards, and is also part of the judging panel.
The BSI Resettlement Awards celebrate Service Leavers who successfully transition from military to civilian life, as well as the people and organisations that support them. The awards include Service Leaver of the year; Employer Committed to Employing Service Leavers; Service Leaver’s Independent Business Start-up of the Year and Service Leavers’ Training Company of the Year. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Manchester on 31st October 2017.
The OA is sponsoring the Award for Excellence in Work Experience Programmes for Service Leavers. The award will be presented to the organisation that demonstrates excellence in delivering work placement, work experience and civilian work attachment programmes available to Service Leavers or veterans. The organisations will be judged on how their programme is tailored to the needs of Service Leavers; the number of people supported; the range of opportunities available and outcomes for participants.
Liz Stevens, the OA’s Head of Employment Services, said: “It’s great to be part of these fantastic awards. It’s important we recognise the challenges that Service Leavers can face, and celebrate their success. Work experience can be a crucial step in building a new career after leaving the Armed Forces. Many of the employers we work with deliver programmes that support Service Leavers, so it is great to recognise their contributions too.”
The OA is a charity that supports serving and former officers to find new careers after leaving the military. It helps employers to develop programmes that attract, select and transition military talent. The Employment Team provides confidential, impartial and practical advice on all aspects of transition and employment. Service Leavers can register with the OA for free to access jobs and training opportunities, including weekly webinars and networking events. The OA also provides advice and financial support to former officers, and their dependants, if they find themselves in need.
The deadline has now been extended to Friday 15th September 2017.
