In November 2015, a group of 12 ex-forces Virgin Money colleagues began getting together once a month to offer mutual support to one another in the transition from the Armed Forces into Virgin Money. This small network wanted to do something practical and positive to support others who may be on a similar journey, leading to the now named ‘Veterans at Virgin Money’ or ‘Vets@Virgin’.
Determined to progress their idea, our colleagues made contact with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and Officers Association, where they received advice and guidance on tangible activities that would support ex-service men and women looking to find their place in the civilian workforce.
Virgin Money is delighted to be working with CTP to host their now annual Careers Access Day on Thursday 20th June in Gosforth, just outside Newcastle.
The event is aimed at all ranks at any stage of the transition process; veterans, reservists and military spouses.
The doors will open from 11:00 and the Careers Access day will start with a number of presentations from carefully selected employers, giving you an overview of their businesses and employment opportunities available.
Thereafter will be a ‘speed dating’ session, allowing you time to network with a number of National and North East based companies. The full list of those in attendance will be announced in the coming months but this will include the likes of Newcastle NHS, Nexus Rail, Civil Nuclear Constabulary Caterpillar, Securitas, FDM Group and of course Virgin Money.
Hosting the event are the Vets at Virgin team who are looking forward to welcoming you and sharing their transition stories and advice.
