The OA has moved its South West office to increase support for the local officer community.
The new premises are larger, reflecting the newly expanded team. This will make it easier to run one-to-one career consultations, where serving and former officers can get independent tailored advice, and run employment events, such as workshops and training sessions.
Nigel Hare, Operations Director at the OA, said: “The South West is an important region for the OA. Many former officers live and work in the area, and our new office means we can provide even better frontline support for them. We will continue to work with local and national employers to develop opportunities for Service leavers.”
The South West is the most popular place in the UK for veterans to live, According to the Veterans Work: Moving On report, commissioned by Deloitte, the OA and Forces in Mind Trust. 24% of respondents live in the region, mostly in suburban areas, villages or the countryside. The employment rate for veterans in the South West is 84%, while the working population is 79%. However, 20% of veterans in the region described searching for the right job as ‘very difficult’.
