AgeCare (Royal Surgical Aid Society) was founded in 1862 to provide artificial limbs and other aids for those unable to afford them. After 1948 the Society has re-directed its interest to the provision of care for older people. There is currently a registered Nursing and Residential Car Home in Droitwich (Worcestershire), and Residential Home in Crowborough (East Sussex), which also offers a selection of self care cottages with support from the adjacent Care Home. Two nursing homes in Sevenoaks (Kent) and Shepperton (Middlesex) each administered by a manager with qualified care staff. This latter home also provides specialist care for people with Alzheimer’s disease.

Barrowmore provides supported accommodation for people with disabilities. Preference of admission will be given to persons who have served in the armed forces of the Crown. They have 35 bedrooms available. Give them a call on 01829 742570 for further information.

The British Home and Hospital provides professional nursing care and support to people who are chronically sick and severely disabled. Greensleeves aim is to offer high quality care in a safe and friendly environment, which respects resident’s rights, dignity and privacy, and gives them the maximum opportunity to exercise personal autonomy and choice. Marie Curie Cancer Care provides free medical and nursing care, for people with cancer through nine Marie Curie Centres. Providing in and out patient facilities; and, through Marie Curie Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants, care for cancer patients in their own homes. Contact them on 0800 716 146.

Peterhouse is a retirement home run by National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS) – NABS is a charity for people who have worked in the marketing and communications industry. Peterhouse has 34 self-contained flats for those wishing to live independently and a 36 room care wing with both residential and nursing care. The Royal National Institute of the Blind can offer short or longer term stays for older people, including those with sight loss. Our warm, homely residences and community, while providing the level of the support and care that you may require. With social programmes developed in conjunction with residents, chef prepared meals and access to specialist facilities for people with sight loss, their homes have been designed to ensure that you enjoy your stay.

IndependentAge concentrates on helping those who have enriched their community by their lives but have been unable to provide for their old age; those whose careers have been caring for or helping others – nurses, teachers, ministers of religion and those who have given time to voluntary and charitable work.
