Liz Stevens, Head of Employment Services
Liz leads the Employment Department and is responsible for developing and implementing the OA’s employment strategy out to 2023. This includes developing its regional presence across the UK and introducing new services for both job seekers and employers as well as realigning existing services into three distinct areas: OA Appointments, OA Connect and OA Insight.
She joined the OA in November 2013 having had a career in the Royal Navy as a Logistics Officer which included time at sea in HMS Brilliant and HMS Endurance; subsequently setting up her own online business before working as a change management consultant in the charity sector.
Lisa Jones, Career Consultant
Lisa left the Army in 2001 after eight years' service and embarked on a career in investment banking, where she managed the Listed Derivatives client services team at Morgan Stanley and worked in Prime Brokerage at UBS. She left banking after eight years to study the Persian language, putting this new skill to good use with the FCO in Afghanistan in 2010-2011. She joined the OA as a Career Consultant in October 2012.

Fiona Jackson, Career Consultant
Fiona completed a Short Service Commission with the Royal Army Education Corps and subsequently spent three years in the TA as an intelligence officer with the Royal Artillery. Since then Fiona gained her extensive HR experience in both the commercial sector – working for the UK’s leading retailer John Lewis and a City-based strategic intelligence company; and in the not-for-profit sector as international recruitment officer for the development charity, Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO). She joined the OA in November 2010.

Clive Lowe, Career Consultant
Clive left the Army after 12 years' service with the Royal Engineers and Gurkha Engineers and on completing his MBA, joined the management company of the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai. He subsequently held posts at the NEC Birmingham, Nakheel (the Dubai Government property development company) and ADNEC, Abu Dhabi, managing and developing their property portfolios. He joined the OA in February 2013.

Keith Spencer, Career Consultant
Based in Bristol, Keith joined the OA in April 2015 as a career consultant and to support business development across the West. Keith enjoyed a full and varied career in the RAF and brings a strong background in military transition having been Head of the Armed Forces Resettlement Organisation prior to joining the OA team. Adding to this experience, Keith has recently completed an executive coaching qualification through UWE Bristol to better support OA clients on an individual basis.
Ashka Raval, Recruitment Consultant
Ashka is based in London, and joined to OA in June 2014 with a BSc in Biomedical Science. Ashka brings a background of recruitment across various sectors, with additional expertise in recruiting using social media. Ashka currently manages the OA talent pool, and can help source high quality candidates to fill vacancies.

Brian Parsanka, Digital Project Manager
Brian joined the OA in April 2015 with a BA in Business Information Systems & Marketing. His role is to manage employment projects with a focus in digital engagement and business systems. After successfully completing the full development cycle and launching the OA Employment App in 2016 Brian continues to manage employment mobile and web projects, upgrades to existing applications as well as Portal Web Services with a focus on building and retaining engagement, streamlining user journeys and improving accessibility to OA Services.
Sophia Koniarska, Director of Programmes and Partnerships
Based in Bristol, Sophia joined the OA in March 2015 to lead on Business Development in the South West. More recently her focus has shifted to developing more strategic programmes and partnerships with employers across the UK.
Sophia brings a background of working in corporate social responsibility across the business and not for profit sectors - focusing on innovation, growth and programme delivery. For over three years Sophia lead Business in the Community’s flagship engagement initiative The Prince’s 'Seeing is Believing Programme', working with a network of over 850 member companies to drive engagement with senior leadership.
Sophia is currently on sabbatical until February 2018.
Peter Liddle, Regional Business Development Manager (North)
Pete leads on business development activities in the north building relationships with key local employers and working with them to deliver bespoke programmes.
Peter has over 15 years' experience working in commercial and recruitment roles, most recently as a key account manager for a FTSE250 business supplying into blue-chip companies.
Amanda Jones, Employment Services & Events Coordinator
Based in Bristol, Amanda joined the OA in May 2017 as Employment Services and Events Coordinator. She graduated from Gloucestershire University in 2015 with a BA in Events Management and has since continued to develop her experience within the sector in the UK and Australia. Amanda’s role within the OA is to support delivery of Service Leavers’ employment needs and deliver employment Insight and Connect events both regionally and in London.
Esme Dickson, Employment Services & Events Coordinator
Based in York, Esme joined the OA in June 2017 as Events Coordinator and Administrator, having graduated from the University of York with a degree in English. Esme’s role is to deliver events in the Northern region and build the serving and ex-military community in the area. She also has responsibility for the network contact list of OA alumni and is the focal point for publishing all employer insight days and placement opportunities across the UK.
Louise Clay, Client Administrator
Louise joined the OA in our Bristol office in August 2016 as the Employment Services Administrator and she helps to support Service Leavers with their employment needs. She works for the OA part-time alongside completing a Business and Event Management BA degree at UWE Bristol.
Alastair Singleton, Chairman, Employment Sub-Committee
Alastair served in the Royal Hong Kong Police as a Detective Inspector and then spent eight years with the Foreign Service, covering Southern Africa, and the Far and Middle East. After an MBA at INSEAD he became an executive search consultant, initially with NBS, and more recently as a Founding Partner of Hanover Fox International. He has a range of Trustee experience with VSO, Cleanup UK and Keep Britain Tidy.
Alastair was appointed a Trustee of the OA in May 2012, particularly to support the Employment Department.
Jonathan was commissioned into The Queen's Own Hussars in 1992 and served in Germany, Cyprus (Armoured Recce Squadron) and on an extended attachment to the Australian Army. He worked in recruitment and HR for 15 years before becoming Chief Operating Officer of a global media company.
Jonathan was appointed a Trustee of the OA in May 2012, particularly to support the Employment Department.
Following a degree in Psychology and English from Keele University, Diana Stephenson obtained a postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Relations at the London School of Economics and joined Gallahers as a management trainee. After subsequently working for the public relations consultancy, Good Relations, she formed her own agency, Flagship Consulting, in 1994, where she is now Chairman. In 2010 she became a founding Director of Annuity Direct Ltd, a specialist independent financial advisory firm, which was bought by the investment powerhouse Fidelity. She was subsequently asked to stay on to run Fidelity’s retirement marketing and did so until March 2016 when she left the company.
In 1994 she was appointed by the Cabinet Office to Chair the South London Branch of the CEPD (Committee for the Employment of People with Disabilities) and appointed to sit on the Strategic Advisory Board of Mencap in 1998. She also runs a specialist interview training service for graduate and senior executives to coach them on interview and presentation techniques.
