Lloyd's Military Network
Virtual Insight Day

Thursday 23rd July 2020

15:00 - 17:30

Have you considered a career in the insurance sector?

The Lloyd’s Military Network offers a bespoke placement programme designed exclusively for Service leavers.

The insurance industry offers a wide variety of roles that are suitable for all ranks/backgrounds and is a sector which values many of the skill sets held by ex-military and reservists. The Lloyd’s Military Network is a market-wide organisation that operates a highly successful bespoke placement programme, offering an internship with one or more of the 12 companies who are members of the scheme, as well as a wide network across the industry that has helped directly place many individuals.

During your career in the Armed Forces, you will have developed core skills that the insurance industry values.  These will include integrity, loyalty, respect for others, mental agility, and a sense of responsibility. You may also have developed specific competences including leadership credentials, technical skills, analytics, project management or experience of persuading and influencing. The insurance sector has a range of roles available and there is almost certainly something that will match your core and functional skill sets.

This year we will be running a virtual insight day, giving you the chance to learn more about the industry, and the chance to virtually meet with leaders and hiring managers to learn how your military skills can transfer into the insurance industry.

The afternoon will involve brief overviews of the following areas:

  • Underwriting
  • Broking
  • Project management
  • Risk advisory
  • Operations
  • Bid Management

Following this there will be a Q&A panel, then a series of breakout rooms where you will have the chance to chat in a less formal environment with all the speakers and several veterans who have recently transitioned into the industry.

If you have any questions about the event, please contact us at militarynetwork@lloyds.com.
