As 2021 draws to a close, we look back on a year of challenges for many across the Armed Forces community. From delivering frontline support for Covid-19 to the rapid drawdown in Afghanistan, it has not been an easy time to navigate for those still serving or for those who have left military life.
The OA’s role is to provide employment expertise and welfare advice to officers and their families when needed.
Our employment expertise is available to all officers throughout their civilian careers but is most valuable when officers choose to leave military life. Last year we worked with over 4,900 officers to help them to secure their first or next civilian job.
For others, life challenges and setbacks can mean that people need help when they least expect it. The OA is here to provide welfare support and guidance for officers and their families throughout their lifetime, and our established Grants and Welfare Team are available to assist.
As our community of serving and former officers and supporters grows, the new year looks busy and bursting with career opportunities. We are developing new partnerships with employers and increasing the number of jobs we host through our job board and are working to deliver more of our excellent skill-based seminars and workshops.
Our work is made possible with the support of our loyal volunteers, staff and employer partnerships. I want to thank them for their work and continued support this year.
From all of us at the OA, we wish you and your families a peaceful and festive holiday and a healthy and happy year ahead.
