Our Senior Management Team

The OA senior management team is responsible for delivering the strategy as set by the Trustees of the Executive Committee.



Lee joined the OA as Chief Executive in August 2013 after service in the Royal Navy and working in the private sector. He joined HMS Ganges in 1973 at the age of 15 as a Junior Seaman and saw active service in Egypt, Northern Ireland, the Gulf, and the Falklands conflict in HMS Broadsword, before being commissioned in 1986.

He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in 1991 with a final appointment as Staff Operations Officer to the Flag Officer Scotland and Northern Ireland in Faslane.

Leaving the Royal Navy in 1993, he worked in the financial services sector before moving to the Defence and Security industry; from 2006 he was Head of International Business Development within RUAG Electronics, based in Zurich.

Laura Blair

Employment Director

Laura is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and served for 12 years in various roles including Head of Recruitment Operations and Head of HR Strategy & Operations (Airborne Task Force). Since leaving the Army as a Major in 2012, Laura continued to contribute to the military community as COO for The Forces Employment Charity (RFEA).

She has a passion for education and development, operating as Head of Client Management for global learning brand Maynard Leigh. She is also a qualified teacher, becoming Director of Learning and Assistant Principal at Coopers School Chislehurst.

Laura’s varied career in the military, education and third sector gives her a unique perspective on the challenges facing fellow officers as they transition from military to civilian employment.



Jo served as an Army Officer for over 16 years. She was employed as a Management Accountant subject matter expert in the Army’s Senior Headquarters for seven years. She was responsible for scoping, allocating and scrutinising projects and programmes, as well as team building and succession planning. In addition to applying technical expertise, her roles and responsibilities always included the leadership, mentoring, management and administration of people.

She has a BA (Hons) in accounting and finance and was awarded a ‘distinction’ for her MSc in charity accounting at the Cass Business School. She is an Associate Chartered Management Accountant. Her particular areas of interest in the charity sector are finance, philanthropy and grant making.

During and following her post-graduate studies in charity accounting, she has provided technical and managerial advice to several charities.



With 15 years customer engagement and membership experience gained across the sports and leisure sectors, Lauren has enjoyed successful roles as Head of Agent Relations at Rugby World Cup 2015 and Head of Membership at the Lawn Tennis Association.  Most recently, Lauren was Head of Customer Revenue at the Roundhouse, a performing arts and concert venue in Camden.

Lauren brings her expertise in revenue generation and passion for customer insight, acquisition, and engagement to her new role as Membership Director at the OA.  She will use her experience to develop and manage the delivery of a membership programme to ensure the OA continues to support officers with employment services before, during and after resettlement.
